Second Year Interior Design
Instructors: Gulen Cevik
Veiws from a Student: We started off the semester learning how to write a program, then practiced this knowledge in our first project, designing a small, hair salon. We spent time designing an environmentally friendly, universally designed residence on a large plot of land in Kentucky. During the project, we had to take into account accessibility issues and research interesting ways of recycling and using natural resources in a more sustainable way. Also during the fall semester, we learned how to use the computer program AutoCAD to draw floor plans and sections.
We spent the spring semester working on a hospitality project: converting a 3-story firehouse in Hyde Park, Cincinnati into a hotel. In addition to the typical hotel lobby and guest rooms, many of the students also designed a restaurant or spa in the basement level. We learned how to draw and render perspectivally on the computer, and also improved 3-D modeling skills.
