North Texas Professor presents lecture, Ring of Truth: Visual Mediation at Miami University Art Museum
OXFORD, Ohio - Rina Kundu, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Art Education and Art History, College of Visual Arts & Design, University of North Texas gives the talk “Ring of Truth: The Visual Mediation of Reality,” Thurs. Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Miami University Art Museum.
The talk addresses the current exhibition, “Ring of Truth” at the art museum, posing questions such as, Do we live in a world of cross-mediation? Do visuals have the power to construct the social? It also examines how visuals are a place where meanings get constructed and contested.
Dr. Kundu has a Doctor of Philosophy in Art Education from Ohio State University. She has a Master of Arts in Art History and a Certificate in Museum Studies, from the University of Illinois. Her research investigates "hierarchies of knowledge at work in museums and other environments" and its impact on how we understand art and culture.
