How to Apply
- Complete a Graduate School application* and send transcripts
- Send to the Art Department: CD with minimum of 20 images (600 pixels for longest side; 72dpi; no powerpoints accepted; list of image titles, dates, materials and dimensions); 3 letters of recommendation; a resume; and a one page statement of goals. Send to Sharon Henrichson by February 1.

In addition to Art Department assistantships, the Graduate School offers a limited number of grants-in-aid. Applications are due March 1. Contact the Graduate School for information about grants-in-aid.
Program Requirement
The MFA degree requires 60 semester hours of credit on the graduate level of study and is offered in two major areas of study:
- 2D -- painting and printmaking
- 3D -- ceramics, metals, and sculpture
Emphasis is placed upon professional preparation in a selected area of concentration. All MFA degree candidates receive exactly the same degree, the MFA in Studio Art.
Master of Fine Arts program requirements
(60 semester hours minimum)
- 24 semester hours in 600 level studio courses with no less than 18 in either painting, printmaking, sculpture, metals, or ceramics
- 6 semester hours in graduate level art history
- 3 semester hours ART 680
- 3 semester hours in graduate level drawing
- 3 semester hours ART 601*
- 12 semester hours in graduate-level course options
- 9 semester hours, thesis
*Recommended, required for teaching assistants
The Thesis requirement ensures that each MFA student will submit a written "Artist's Statement" in support of the studio work and that the studio work will be mounted in a final Thesis Exhibition. In addition, all graduate Teaching Assistants are required to enroll in Art 601 (Graduate Teaching Seminar).
