Only the power to imagine can change the world. Creative new solutions to problems are artistic by definition and artists have always been at the forefront of change.

At Miami, we embrace a philosophy of learning that is focused on engagement, which leads to "deep learning," or learning for understanding. Not only is this better learning than memorizing for an exam (and then forgetting), it is learning with a purpose: Why am I here and how can I make the world a better place with what I have learned?

Miami University is one of 81 universities chosen by The Princeton Review to have one of the best public service programs. Miami also ranks 22nd in Peace Corps volunteers.

In the School of Fine Arts we link art and civic engagement and aspire to have 100% of students complete an internship.
