INTERNATIONAL TRUMPET GUILD

"To promote comunication among trumpet players around the world and to improve the artistic level of performance, teaching and literature associate with the trumpet."

Professor Olcot has had a longstanding relationsship with the International Trumpet Guild, beginning in 1977, just two years after its founding. He quickly became active as a player and conductor in the Guild's famous Festival of Trumpets concerts at the various international conferences, and it was not long before he headed several organizational committees. During his time with ITG he has run up an impressive resumé of activities, including
	•	ITG Secretary, 1991-1997
	•	TG Vice President, 1997-1999
	•	ITG President, 1999-2001

	•	Member, ITG Board of Directors, 2003-2015
	•	Member, ITG Website Committee (Director of the Journal Site and Recordings), 2003-present)
	•	Member, ITG Journal Editorial Review Committee, 2003-present
	•	Coordinator, ITG CD Projects, 2004-2013
	•	Coordinator, Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Solo Competition, 2005-2009
At international conferences, Mr. Olcott has been panelist through his interest in composition and publication (Bankok, 2005), and served as panel moderator on orchestral performance (Akron, 1993), panelists of which included Bernard Adelstein, William Vacchiano, and Roger Voisin. Mr. Olcott received the ITG Award of Merit in 2005 for his "distinguished career as a performer, teacher, and publisher, and for long and dedicated service to ITG." The Festival of Trumpets at the ITG International Conference that year (Bankok, Thailand) was named "Festival of Trumpets Concert: A Tribute to James Olcott" in his honor. Special event: Miami University was selected to host the 2012 meeting of the Ohio Chapter of the International Trumpet Guild, which was held on Saturday, March 31.
