Thurmer solos with Richmond Symphony
Richmond, Indiana – MU violin professor Harvey Thurmer, was the featured soloist on Saturday, October 24 with the Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra
in “The Lark Ascending” by British composer Ralph Vaughn Williams.
Millie Martin, critic for Richmond’s newspaper, the Palladium Item, wrote of the performance, “You're expecting a solid performance when Thurmer steps onto the stage, (and) he didn't disappoint, coaxing sounds (many of them challenging high notes) from his violin like those from a skylark.”
Thurmer, who has been concertmaster of the RSO since 1998, has often soloed with the ensemble, performing works by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, and Vivaldi.
