MU students receiving DMA, masters degree acceptances

Oxford – ‘Tis the season for college seniors applying for master’s degree and DMA programs to begin hearing from graduate schools. Even at this early stage of universities attempting to attract the best candidates, Miami University music department seniors are already getting good news. What we’ve heard so far:

<> Bassoonist Kate Mackenzie, a student of Christin Schillinger, has been accepted into the DMA programs at Arizona State University, Michigan State University, and Ohio State University, and hasn’t yet chosen.

<> Forrest Lentz, also a bassoonist, has been accepted into the Master of Music programs at Michigan State University, University of Nebraska, and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has chosen to join the program at MSU.

<> Oboist Mezraq Ramli has been offered a major fellowship at West Virginia University, an assistantship at Ohio State University, and a fellowship at Texas Tech University. Mazraq studies with Andrea Ridilla.

<> Piano performance major Luke Williams, a student of Lian Tan, will attend the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland next year on a full tuition scholarship to pursue a Masters degree in performance.

<> Kori Hill, violin performance major studying with Amy Kiradjieff, has been awarded an assistantship and full tuition waver to attend West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

<> Soprano Emily Moses, a student of Mari Opatz-Muni, has been offered a vocal performance assistantship at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

From the studio of Allison Acord:
<> Voice performance major Rachel Adams is one of 15 performers chosen to enter the music theatre masters degree program at NYU in New York City.

<> Megan McGill, voice performance, has accepted an assistantship position at Texas State University as she pursues a master’s degree in vocal performance.

<> Emily Moses has been offered a vocal performance assistantship at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

And from the studio of Harvey Thurmer:
<> Violin performance major Marissa Keener has been accepted at three universities, including Denver University, East Carolina University, and Southern Illinois University, where she has been awarded an assistantship and full tuition waver.

<> Monica Hickey, also a violin performance major, has been awarded a scholarship to attend the University of South Carolina in Columbia South Carolina.
