Jeremy D. Jones, Assistant Professor of Music at Miami University, conducts the Collegiate Chorale, Men’s Glee Club, teaches courses in music education, and supervises student teachers.
Prior to his appointment at Miami University, Jones completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. At CCM, he served as the conductor of the UC Men’s Chorus from 2007-2010. His research on male collegiate glee clubs led to publications in the Choral Journal and a presentation at the 2008 Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses National Seminar.
In 2009, Dr. Jones was one of the founding members of the Bach Collegium Series in Cincinnati, conducting concerts at Calvary Episcopal Church. He also has presented concerts of Bach’s music at CCM for the Atrium Concert Series and gave his doctoral lecture recital on Bach’s four Lutheran masses. Dr. Jones has sung with professional and community choruses including the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati and the Nashville Chamber Singers.
In addition to the DMA degree in conducting from CCM, Dr. Jones holds the MM degree in choral conducting from East Carolina University, and the BM degree in vocal music education from Middle Tennessee State University. He has studied conducting with Raphael Bundage, Daniel Bara, Earl Rivers, Brett Scott, Richard Sparks, and Elmer Thomas. After receiving the BM degree, he was the Director of Choral Activities at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
