Sara Butler
Biography
Sara Butler is Professor of Art. She holds B.S. (1966), M.S. (1972), and Ph.D. (1977) degrees in Textiles and Clothing from Michigan State University. She currently teaches courses in global dress and the history of dress.
Dr. Butler's scholarly interests center on dress and human behavior. She has published in the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal and Perceptual and Motor Skills and has presented numerous papers at the International Textiles and Apparel Association national conferences.
Of continuing interest has been study of historical dress, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. With students, she has focused on the relationships between social class and dress. A recent research interest has been the assessment of student learning.
