The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later
A staged reading performed by members of the Oxford, Talawanda and Miami community
in collaboration with the Tectonic Theatre Project.
A decade after piecing together the groundbreaking play about the 1998 murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard, the creators of the The Laramie Project returned to Wyoming to investigate the long-term cultural impact of the murder and the collective memory of the community a decade after the event.
What has changed? What has stayed the same? What will you do?
A staged reading of this new play will be presented across America and on Broadway on the 11th anniversary of Shepard’s murder as a way to honor his memory. We are bringing our community together in this performance to consider the conditions which led to Shepard’s death and to raise our collective consciousness of civil rights, violence and bigotry.
