Technology by itself is useless. Artists are always the first to embrace new technologies and figure out how they can improve our lives. Art drives technology and is ravenous in how it uses technology.
Artists and musicians are always pushing boundaries: make it new is the artistic credo. Even before the technicians are asking for applications, artists are asking for new machines that can do new things: the “windows” operating system is not technology, it is a design interface.
It is no surprise the arts are the first unit on campus to require laptops and iPods for all first year students.
