High School Seniors and Transfer Students

1. Apply to Miami

Fill out a Miami University application found at the Office of Admissions website. Indicate THEATRE (Code FA86) as your intended college major (or the major you wish to transfer into if completing the Transfer Student application).

2. Submit an application to the Theatre Department

This is a supplemental form to your Miami application. On this form you will be asked to tell us about your work in theatre, your interests, and you will arrange a time to take part in an theatre admissions interview. You may complete this form either before or after you complete your Miami University application.

3. Complete an Admissions Interview

To become a theatre major at Miami, you must complete an admissions interview with the Department of Theatre. There are many ways you can do this:

Attend a Theatre Day
Theatre Days are held in late fall and in early spring. Coming to a Theatre Day will allow you to meet our faculty, staff, and students; see our theatres and shops; attend workshops with Department artists and scholars; attend classes with Miami theatre professors; and maybe see a performance! Time is set aside for admissions interviews as well.

Come for an individual interview/tour
Not free on a Theatre Day? Come for an individual tour of the theatre department, drop in on classes and meet some of our current students one-on-one.

Send in interview materials
Don’t let distance or other circumstances discourage you from becoming a theatre major at Miami. If you can’t make it to Oxford, send us examples of your creative work!

When you fill out your Department of Theatre Application, you will be asked to schedule an interview time.

PLEASE NOTE that Department of Theatre scholarships for incoming students are awarded based on materials presented through the Admissions Interview. Everyone who interviews becomes eligible for theatre department scholarships. More on scholarships >>

Changing your Major to Theatre

On completing the application, you will be asked to schedule an admissions interview required of all majors. If you have questions, contact the Theatre Department. The phone number is 529-3053.
