cfrancis blackchild holds MA in English with a concentration in African Diaspora Studies, from the University of Missouri, a MFA in Playwriting, from the University of Texas, teaching credentials from California State University-Los Angeles, and a BA in Theatre, Wesleyan University.
cfrancis has been a University of Missouri Difficult Dialogue Faculty Fellow, Dissertation Fellow at Texas State University, San Marcos and served as assistant producer, primary director and facilitator for Mizzou Interactive Theatre Troupe.
She is a theatre practitioner whose research examines the work of African-American theatre practitioners and has presented her work at national and regional conferences, including ATHE, MATC and BTN. She in currently completing her dissertation, “Preparing Birds to Fly: Lloyd Richards and the Actor” an examination of the work of legendary director Lloyd Richards.
