Karen Smith has been at Miami since 1985, and with the Department of Theatre since 1987. If you've called, emailed or visited the department, chances are you've been greeted by Karen. She is the hub that helps the department function, and loves the fact that the work she does is new and different every day.

When she's not at work, Karen enjoys taking long walks with her husband and dogs, convertible rides in the country, and active engagement in her church.

Through Karen, students can set up meetings with the Chair, get information about departmental requirements, schedule classrooms for rehearsal, or answer just about any question a student might have. She prides herself in either being able to answer any question directly, or knowing where to go to get the answer.
